Stainless Steel 347 Forgings are made from austenitic stainless steel, which contains about 17–19% chromium, 9–13% nickel, 0.04–0.10% carbon, and niobium to stabilize the composition, along with small amounts of manganese and silicon. This blend ensures remarkable resistance to corrosion, impressive tensile and creep strength at elevated temperatures, and good ductility. In terms of mechanical properties, 347 stainless steel forgings show tensile strengths ranging from 550–750 MPa, yield strengths between 250–450 MPa, and hardness levels around 180–200 HB, making them ideal for applications that demand durability, high-temperature performance, and resistance to chemical and thermal stress.

Stainless Steel 347 forgings have limitations in extreme temperatures above 1600°F (870°C), susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking in chloride environments, and reduced formability compared to some other stainless steel grades.
The forging temperature range for Stainless Steel 347 is typically between 2100°F (1149°C) and 2200°F (1204°C). It ensures optimal grain structure and mechanical properties for high-performance applications.
Stainless Steel 347 forgings require minimal maintenance, primarily periodic cleaning to remove contaminants. Regular inspection for corrosion or wear is recommended, along with ensuring proper lubrication for moving parts in harsh environments.
These Stainless Steel 347 Forgings find extensive use in industries that require high corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability. In the chemical and petrochemical sectors, they are utilized for heat exchangers, reactors, furnace components, and piping systems that handle aggressive chemicals. In power generation, they are essential for boilers, turbines, and exhaust systems that operate under high temperatures. The aerospace and marine industries also rely on 347 forgings for structural components, high-temperature equipment, and machinery.
